Monday Shoot: Safety Meeting: 9:00am
Our club shoots on the second full weekend Saturday, Sunday and Monday of each month. We shoot 6 stages plus an optional quickie side match. All stages have fans as needed. Water coolers are available on the range and our bathrooms have A/C/heat!
Saturday: We shoot Cowboy
Sunday: We Shoot Wild Bunch, 1911 and Cowboy
Monday: We shoot Wild Bunch, Teddy Roosevelt, Doughboy, 1911 & Cowboy. The Featured category will be DOUGHBOY.
ROUND COUNTS-WILD BUNCH
Each stage is typically 21 pistol, 7 rifle and 4 shotgun for Wild Bunch. We shoot 6 stages. The 21 pistol is 3 magazines of 7 and typically it is two magazines at the rifle targets and 1 at the pistol targets. Occasionally we have a stage with 6 shotgun. Doughboy and Teddy Roosevelt are 5 rifle rounds per stage, same 21 pistol and 4 shotgun.
We generally have a side match after the main match for those that are interested. The round count varies, but typically it is 5 pistol and 5 rifle, though it may be 10 pistol or 10 pistol and 10 rifle. On Monday we usually limit the rifle to 5 even on the side match especially if Doughboy or Teddy Roosevelt is the featured category.
Note that even on Monday's where Doughboy or Teddy Roosevelt is featured, you can still shoot regular Wild Bunch. On Monday, you can also shoot Cowboy or 1911 if you wish. 1911 is a special category where you shoot 4 magazines of 5 rounds each. You shoot the same scenario as the Cowboy shooters, but you shoot the 1911 in place of the pistols and the rifle. So, you shoot 20 rounds from the 1911 and typically 4 shotgun.
SAFETY is very important at our shoots. Protective eye wear and ear protection are mandatory for all shooters and spectators inside the range during the shoot. Strict rules are enforced to ensure everyone has a fun and safe time.
WHERE TO STAY AND EAT
AFTER THE MATCH: The Outlaws present AWARD RIBBONS and SCORES after the match. Side Match and Justa Hand winners get a little extra award. If Justa Hand is up to it, he fixes us a little something free to eat after the shoot at Justa Kitchen.
RULES: The Oakwood Outlaws club is a SASS-affiliated club. SASS stands for Single Action Shooting Society. SASS is our governing body that makes the rules that we use for our matches. The SASS Shooter's Handbook is a good place to start with all of the details.
DRESS CODE: Cowboy/Cowgirl attire is encouraged during the main match. However, t-shirts and shorts are just fine from June through September.
SPECTATORS are very welcome at our shoots. There is no charge to watch a match. Protective eye wear and ear protection are mandatory for all shooters and spectators inside the range during the shoot. Strict rules are enforced to ensure everyone has a fun and safe time. PLEASE CHECK IN AT THE OFFICE WHEN YOU ARRIVE.
