WHERE: Just outside Oakwood on Texas 79, 25 miles east of Interstate 45. About halfway between Houston and Dallas.
WHEN: The Oakwood Outlaws meet the third weekend of the month; the next shoot is July 20-21. Other clubs have different schedules; some shoot every weekend.
COST: Membership in the Oakwood Outlaws is $24 a year for an individual or family. Weekend shoots are $10 for one day for members, $15 for both days. Nonmembers pay $15 each day.
WHAT YOU NEED: Cowboy guns -- that means original or reproduction 1800s pistols, rifles and shotguns. No automatic or semiautomatic weapons. Cowboy clothing is encouraged, although the Oakwood Outlaws allow shorts during the summer. Also, everyone uses an Old West alias.
